Map!

Mother Goose Time

What should you do if you are lost? M says he should try and find his mommy. 

S wants to be a teacher like her mom.

M is counting the days to see what date it is today.

She said it was cloudy today.

C is matching the red paint brush to something red she found on the World Map.

We sang "Read a Map" to the tune of "The Muffin Man," and now M is trying to the find the animal that was named in the song. 

The kids explored by looking at a real map. Now, they are attempting to make their very own map.

Not bad!

We decided to move the activity to the floor, so the little ones could help us.

The children are enjoying a book called "A Ride for Duck."

Playtime!

How do you get around in your neighborhood? C said she rides with her daddy in a car.

The kids are decorating their new journals for the month.

M is drawing himself in a vehicle.

Now, the kids are playing cars on their map. They learned that a map can tell them how to get from one place to the next. They also learned that a map can help them if they are lost. 

Lemon!

Sour Lips! What do you know about lemons? I sliced lemons and oranges for the children to explore. Then, I had them write or draw about what they discovered. M discovered that lemons were sour. K thought the oranges tasted sweet.

C is thinking about tasting the lemon. She isn't too sure though.

The taste test!

Pucker up!

The kids are now rolling the shape cube. Their job is to name the shape and find the matching shape in the pile of Tangrams. 

M rolled a triangle.

The kids took turns looking in the mirror after tasting a lemon to see what kind of face they made. 

M likes lemons.

S tried the orange and loved it. I don't think she likes the taste of a lemon though.

M is making the letter "O" with his fingers.

G loves to dance.

What is your favorite juice? The kids are squeezing orange slices into a cup. They were surprised to see they could make orange juice. 

S loves to eat oranges.

The orange juice tasted sweet.

The children scooped paint onto their papers. Now, they are using straws to blow the paint to decorate their cups.

It is time to decorate our cups!

How do oranges get to the store? The children are playing with wooden fruit pieces and wheeled toys. They are loading fruit onto their trucks and delivering it to the fruit stand. 

T found a zebra.

C is paying M money for delivering fresh fruit to her fruit stand. 

S likes to eat strawberries from the farm.
