Sahara Desert!

L is my assistant today.
Mother Goose Time!

L asked the children whether the desert was hot or cold. Then, he explained that deserts are very hot with very little water. 




L is asking the group what type of weather is outside. When a child guessed the incorrect weather, he removed the weather picture to narrow it down to the correct one. I was impressed with his teaching ability at such a young age.

We are singing a song about the desert. When I name a child, they pretend to take a drink. 


The kids are exploring with sand. They are feeling the dry sand with sticks and their fingers. The sand feels dry.

Now, the kids are taking turns adding water to the sand. 

They learned that the sand soaked up the water. 



L moved the sand to one side. He added water to see if it would remain there. L determined the water was able to stay in a puddle because it was not completely surrounded by sand. 

The water collected in a pool.


K is not too sure about the sand. 



K enjoyed playing in the sand. 

 
L is blowing the sand through a straw to see what it would be like in a sand storm. 

 


It's banana time!




The children are decorating a paper plate to make a canteen prop.
