Crow!

The children learned crows like to visit gardens.

The kids are having fun following movements in a AABBCC pattern.

The kids learned crows like to eat fruit, grains, seeds, rabbits, mice and eggs. They followed me to the refrigerator to try and guess which foods they think a crow would eat. M thinks a crow would eat the vegetables in the container.

K is pointing to the mustard.

Each child is taking turns cutting their cards for a game.

The children are building tall towers using blocks. They are pretending to be crows by making different sounds.

The kids are looking in the mirror to determine what kind of face a person would need to make to scare a crow.
GRRR!

The kids are working together to build different scarecrows. Some of the scarecrows are happy. Some of them are scary.

The children learned that crows are highly intelligent birds. They can pick up various items using their beaks. The children  are trying to pick put items just like a crow by using spoons and other tools from the kitchen.

C picked up blocks with spoons.

M successfully picked up a piece of yarn with his tongs.

C is giving me a high five because she is awesome!

Mole!

D is fascinated to see the flowers leaves turning blue from our last experiment.

I cut out different shapes (mole holes), and placed them on the floor. Then, I named a shape and called each child to find that specific shape. All of the children did a great job searching for their shape.

The children are pretending to be moles digging in the ground while I sing a song.

The children discovered that moles are nearly blind. They use their nose to find their way around in the tunnels.

I prepared various different containers with vinegar, lemon juice, and peanut butter. Each child took turns smelling the containers and trying to determine what scents they are smelling.

All the children agreed that the vinegar smell was yucky.

The kids learned that moles like to eat roots of plants. They enjoyed playing a card game. They took turns rolling the card cube, and matched the color on the cube to the pictures on the game board.

The children learned that moles eat and sleep in underground tunnels. They took turns finding small places to crawl under, so they can pretend they are underground.

The children helped me roll cardboard tubes, and tape them to the wall. We did not have marbles, so the kids used pom pom balls, small plastic balls, and cars to run through the wall tunnels.

C likes to put her car through the tunnels.

The children enjoyed their short story about moles. They followed along using their finger, and clapped at the end of each sentence.

M likes the story about the mole.

C is drawing a picture of his favorite food.

We decided to play in the tunnels for some fun. This was great way to end our lesson about moles.

D is trying to connect the two tunnels to make it longer.

Integrating music as a part of our daily lessons.

Every morning, the kids anxiously await to hear the circle time song play. They know once they hear it, it is time to dance. I can never get away with playing the song once. Once the song is over, they chant, "again, again". So, I put it on repeat, so it can play at least a few times before we get done.

K loves to spin dolls, and toys around in circle during the circle time song.

The kids also enjoy holding hands with each other while the song plays. They do this until the song ends, then they all fall to their knees.

Circle time is fun and exciting for the children, and its fun for me. I like to dance with them, and I love watching them as they dance together. They display a lot of team effort skills by making sure everyone is included in the dance.
