Cleaning & Safety!

S is ready to learn about cleaning and safety.
Mother Goose Time!

Circle time is fun time.

I love this. 

M wanted to take a pic of us. 

S is helping me with the days of the week.

The children took turns finding something in the room to match the blue sponge. 

C found an orange plane (Dusty)  that had blue stripes along the side. 

The boys are being silly. 

S found a yellow pen. 

The children are watching a short video about cleaning and staying safe in the kitchen. They learned that stoves can be very hot. 

We have 1 big tub of clean water, 1 empty tub (for dirty water), 1 small pitcher, and a bar of soap. The children were instructed to take turns assisting another child by pouring water over their hands. Each child took turns washing their hands while singing the ABC's. 

S is washing her hands first.

It is M's turn to wash his hands.

We compared the two tubs of water. The kids could not tell which tub was full of dirty water, so I placed a blue block at the bottom of each tub. This enabled the kids to see the water in the small tub was cloudy. I explained it was because the water was dirty. 

Yuck! The children learned that is is always best to wash their hands to avoid getting sick from germs. When they wash their hands, they wash the dirt and germs away. 

I placed paper letters that had germs drawn on them, and others that did not into a plastic Ziploc bags. We colored the ones that had germs with marker. Each child  took turns spraying the (dirty)  Ziploc bags with water, and wiped them clean. 

C is washing the dirt (marker) off of the letter. 

S didn't know how to spray the spray bottle. She shook it instead. 

The kids learned how to stay safe by wearing, or using a pot holder to grab hot pans on the stove. 

They explored with the utensils and kitchen supplies. 

I filled the pot with pretend vegetables, and placed a different vegetable on each child's plate. They took turns serving and placing a matching vegetable on each others plate. 

M is searching the pot for an onion.

E is being careful not to burn himself with the (pretend) hot pot.

Each child received supplies to make a door hanger for the bathroom. 

C is preparing to stamp a hand print on her door hanger. 

S became upset when I had to help her. She wanted to eat the paint instead. 

Lunch time!
