Game Reserve!

M and S are helping me put away our journals.

S is counting to see how many points are on a star.

E is our weather person for the day. He said it is sunny outside.

I numbered cups 1-9 and turned them upside down. I also hid several safari counters underneath for the kids to find. I called out a number, and had each child take turns looking under the cup with the number that was called out. This helped the children to exercise number recognition and memory by recalling which cups were hiding the safari counters.

K is taking some time to relax a bit. It can be exhausting hanging with the older children.

We played several rounds since this kids enjoyed playing along.

Singing , "My Camera" to "The Farmer in the Dell." C is clapping every time we say the word 'click.'

We did another activity called "Entry Fee." We discussed different activities that require an entry fee.  Many of the children agreed they would have to pay a fee to visit the zoo.

The children stood in line, and took turns paying $9.00 for a ticket to visit  a safari zoo.

I explained that when people visit a safari, the animals live in a protected area.

They each received a ticket and pen to mark the animals they observed.

Amazingly enough, C marked her paper exactly how she was supposed to. She made tallies for the number of elephants she observed.

M enjoyed seeing the different animals.

I love this. Even the toddlers had fun with this activity.

Story time!

The children are acting out the story as I read the book.

Playtime!

C is pretending to be an elephant.

E wanted to reread the book by himself.

These kids are all so cute. We had a great time together.
