Safari Safety!

 Mother Goose Time

Circle time!

S is counting the days of the week.

Stay on the path! The children learned they should stay on the road in a safari. I sang the song "Did you know." Did you know that hippos bite, hippos bite, hippos bite. Please respect their space. Then, I acted out the motions of each animal. The kids would get excited and stray off the road. I kindly reminded them to get back on the road to be safe.

S learned it is a good idea to see wild animals through a pair of binoculars.

We discussed different things we can do to give an animal their space.

Safari Binoculars!

The kids had fun decorating their binoculars.

Nice work!

Lion!

Lion Mask fun!

Why am I small? The kids are exploring by measuring, comparing and investigating different objects.

Singing "  Lovely, Lazy Lion" to the tune of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider."

Measuring different objects for fun!

As I read the story aloud, the children took turns turning over story cards at different prompts in the story.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mother Goose Time

Circle time is dance time!

G wants to dance too!

Hello K!

All of the children wanted to start out their day by holding hands. We talked about what the word  "peace" means.

Peace means sharing, getting long with others.

Peace means being kind.

I read a short story about Martin Luther King, Jr.

We learned that Martin Luther King's name for short was ML. We also learned that he did not like it when his people were mistreated because of the color of their skin. ML decided that he needed to do something about it. He tried to be the very best at everything he did. He did so well he graduated at the age of 15 years old, and went to college. ML used his gifts to bring all people of color together in a peaceful way.

We learned some yoga poses that we can do when we become angry or upset. These poses can be used to help calm us down.

M is doing the butterfly pose.

S is flapping his butterfly wings.

S is spinning the game piece to see which peaceful pose we should do next.

Marching for peace matching card game.

We are making a calendar for the year. M is preparing to stamp his hand in paint to make a hand print.

K's turn!

Making art using paper towels, markers and water.

M is using a straw to drop water onto his art piece.

rainbow surprise!

We read a book about ML! We learned about his "I have a dream" speech.

Now, we are mixing fruit loops and pretzels in a Ziploc bag.

Each child guessed how many pretzels they had in their bag. Then, they counted their pretzels to see if their prediction was correct.

We had a discussion about how people come in all different colors just like cereal. We also discussed some ways we could make peace with others.
